Week 5: Nodes, Mathematical Concepts

In class, I showed you guys how to use nodes to represent the concept of infinity.

For homework, answer the following:

QUESTION: Give an example of a mathematical concept that could be demonstrated by Inkscape. Please be original – do not copy an example from class, or that has already been posted by your classmates on the blog.

 Thanks!

  1. A mathematical concept that can be demonstrated on inkscape is creating a poster that has things about tessellations or the definition of pie. I think that you can also make one using shapes that you have made on inkscape and put specific measures

  7. An example of a mathematical concept that can be shown on Inkscape is reflection. For the classwork poster on Inkscape I formatted the word "freedom" in a cool way and reflected it! :]

  10. On Inkscape, you can show an example of a mathematical concept by utilizing the shape tool and making exactly measured shapes (like a circle or square), so you can have accurate answers when finding area, perimeter, or volume.

  11. An example of a mathematical concept would be pythagorean theorem. This is a concept that helps you find the measurement of the missing side of a triangle. We use triangles often on InkScape.

  12. An example of a mathematical concept would be translations and dilations. You can copy any object and move it where ever you want which is translation. You can also lock the measurements and make the object bigger which is dilation.

  16. An example of a mathematical concept on Inkscape is rotation. If you draw a rectangle for example, you can go into the select mode, click on the rectangle twice, and drag the arrows on the corners from side to side to rotate the shape.

  17. An example of a mathematical concpet on Inkcape is dilation. By locking a shape, you can then drag it diagonally, which proportioanlly increases or decreases the size of the shape.

  19. A mathematical concept that cam be demonstrated via Inkscape is the concept of subtraction, if you show the exclusion of two union-path objects, it shows that you take away from something.
